Rosette headband for American Girl and other 18 inch dolls

I used a rich Burgundy yarn to crochet this broad headband for my 18 inch doll.  Then an assortment of cotton threads in cream and two shades of pink to create a frilled rosette, which she wears to the side.  I'm thinking of adding rosettes to some hat designs I have in mind.  In the meantime, this design is available in my Etsy shop.

I find crocheting so relaxing.  And my new passion for making tiny clothes and accessories to fit 18 inch dolls for my Etsy shop makes me feel really good, because they take much less time than adult items.  At the same time I just adore to pay just as much attention to the details as I do with larger pieces.  

 




 This pretty necklace in a deep burgundy red cotton thread is embellished with iridescent glass beads and a faceted crystal pendant.  It fastens with silvery clasps at the back.

My friend is about to make a gown in rich Royal Blue velvet for her doll, so I'm sending her this blue necklace embellished with stars and blue beads to add the finishing touch.

These necklaces are 6 inches long plus the fasteners and are perfect for the dolls to wear high to set off the necklines of most garments.  They are also perfectly sized to be worn as a bracelet by a child.

I've heard people talk about having a second childhood.  But never given it much thought until now.  It all started before Christmas, when my friend Beverly was making doll clothes as a gift for one of her grandchildren's American Girl doll.  Now the pair of us have are own dolls and are totally hooked.

I got my girl Diamond from some very nice people at http://www.thedollshouse.co.uk  She arrived in a glamorous pink shiny box all wrapped up in tissue paper, complete with birth certificate.  I haven't given her a name yet .... any ideas?

For me, hooked is the operative word, because the first design I've created for 'my girl' is this sassy hand crocheted two-piece outfit, in two colours of yarn; warm pink and purple. The striped hat is topped off with a fun pompom tassle, and the sweater can be buttoned snugly at the collar with a flower motif.

I crocheted these deliciously soft childrens slipper socks using two colours worked together;  a plain black and a fabulous snuggly blue eyelash yarn.  They are similar in style to my adult womens version, but obviously smaller and finished with a cheeky pom pom on the front.

New Convertible mittens short and sweet.

Here's a new convertible mitten design I finished today and added to my Etsy shop. These are shorter at the wrist than my design from a few weeks ago. 

As with the original, they still fasten back with a loop onto a flower-button motif when the finger section is unrequired.  But there's a difference with the way the thumb converts, as it can now be tucked right out of the way inside from the base of the thumb.  Big improvement!  The finger-flap too is made so it now tucks inside without need for a button.

 I'll still happily make my original convertible mitten design for people who would like me too.  They are longer than the new design, and wonderful for people who like to keep their fore-arms snug, as well as their hands and wrists.
